Tonn Nua is an area off the south coast of Ireland and the coast of County Waterford which has been identified for offshore wind project development. The site spans 306 kilometres and is anticipated to have 38-64 fixed-bottom turbines with the capacity to generate approximately 900 MW.
The offshore and onshore infrastructure includes:
Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) and associated fixed foundations and scour protection;
Inter-array cables and associated cable protection;
Export cable(s) to the EirGrid Offshore Substation Platform (OSPs);
Onshore O&M facility.
The name Tonn Nua means New Wave in Irish Gaelic.
